Salary Ordinance Changes Proposed
Finding "some inequities that need to be addressed," Avalon's
administration proposed changes to the borough’s salary ordinance, the
first such changes since 2016. Under Avalon’s form of government, the
mayor sets the salaries for most borough employees. The exceptions are
those salaries required to be fixed by Avalon Borough Council or by the
mayor, with the consent of the council. The former salary ordinance
focused on ranges for appointive and elective officers of the borough,
and not on the larger employee positions where the mayor fixed salaries
by executive order. The proposed "Salary Ordinance of 2020" would codify
all job titles and positions in the borough, setting minimum and maximum
salary ranges for each, with the exception of salaries of employees
covered by collective bargaining agreements.

How to Do The Shore this Winter
When you say the word 'beach,' most people think sunny skies, hot
temperatures, and warm ocean water. In January, that's not really the
case at the Jersey Shore! But cold temperatures do not mean you can't
have fun with the whole family. During the winter you can stay inside,
cozy by the fire, or you can go outside and explore South Jersey in the
snow!
